Green Jambhala, also known as Green Dzambhala, is one of the five principal wealth deities in Himalayan Buddhist tradition. He is considered an emanation of Amoghasiddhi Buddha, embodying the all-accomplishing wisdom that removes obstacles and bestows prosperity. His green complexion symbolizes the active, swift energy of enlightened activity, always ready to arise and help those in need of resources for spiritual practice.

Standing in dynamic alidha posture—the warrior stance—with his right leg bent and left leg extended, he tramples upon a conch shell treasure beneath his feet, symbolizing his dominion over all forms of abundance. His body is depicted as short and stout with a large belly, expressing the fullness of prosperity. His semi-wrathful expression embodies compassionate determination—three eyes that see throughout all realms, and brows furrowed with the intensity of his vow to eliminate poverty.

In his right hand, held gracefully at his knee, he presents the golden citron fruit (bijapuraka)—representing the fruitful result of generous actions and the sweet taste of Dharma realization. In his left hand, cradled against his heart, he holds the jewel-spouting mongoose (nakula)—the definitive symbol of his power to subdue poverty and distribute wealth. The mongoose is depicted with pearls and precious gems streaming from its mouth, actively disgorging treasures to eliminate suffering and support spiritual practice.

He wears the five-jewel crown adorning his head, representing the five wisdoms. A garland of jewels hangs across his body, symbolizing the abundance he bestows. Serpents coil as sacred ornaments around his limbs, representing his mastery over the naga treasures of the underworld. Celestial silks drape gracefully over his shoulders, their flowing folds demonstrating mastery of classical techniques.

The complete 24k gold-gilding adds radiant luminosity to the entire sculpture. Multiple layers of pure gold are carefully applied using traditional mercury-gilding techniques, creating a warm, glowing surface that will endure for generations. This full gold finish ensures the deity shines with consistent splendor from every angle.

Every element of this hand-carved masterwork reflects dedicated artistry. The elaborate crown, the precisely rendered mongoose with its jewel-streaming mouth, the delicate folds of his flowing robes, and the intricate jewelry—all demonstrate the master artisan's exceptional craftsmanship.

The lotus base beneath his feet features layers of individually carved petals—each petal precisely shaped, their tips slightly curled, creating a foundation of sacred beauty.

According to traditional sources, Green Jambhala holds a uniquely important position among the five wealth deities as the embodiment of the all-accomplishing wisdom that overcomes all obstacles to prosperity. His practice is particularly associated with the activity of magnetizing wealth and resources. As it is difficult to attain spiritual realizations while afflicted by lack of resources, Jambhala generates prosperity so that practitioners have the time, energy, and means to accomplish.

The ancient technique used in crafting this piece follows time-honored methods preserved in the Kathmandu Valley for centuries. The lost-wax process, detailed hand-chasing, and careful application of gold-gilding have been executed with exceptional skill by a master artisan.

For more than a millennium, the Kathmandu Valley has nurtured a living lineage of metal sculptors who have preserved the traditions of ancient lost-wax creation and mercury-gilding. This 21cm Green Jambhala masterwork represents that living heritage—a powerful expression of the wealth deity whose swift activity bestows abundance on all sincere practitioners.
