Padmasambhava, known as Guru Rinpoche (Precious Master), is the 8th-century Buddhist master from Oddiyana who established the foundations of Buddhist tradition in the Himalayas. Revered as the "Second Buddha," he is the founder of the Nyingma school and the revealer of the Terma tradition. Invited to Tibet by King Trisong Detsen, he subdued local spirits and established the first monastery at Samye, ensuring the Dharma would flourish.
